Press releases and general news.

We created this section for other sites wishing to report about SketchUcation news.
You can find press releases and general news sorted by category here.

March 20, 2008.

You may have noticed the addition of new links in various existing sections, as well as a Sitemap. Well, today we announce the return of the SketchUcation blogs. These new blogs report on tutorial and extension news from the SCF, as well as new SketchUcation tutorials. Currently we have started two blogs: the SketchUp Tutorials blog and the SketchUp Extensions blog.

January 10, 2008.

The transfering of posts from the SketchUp Community Forums' old board to the new board is nearing completion.
Everything except the SketchUp Gallery, the Renders Gallery, the Corner bar and the World Politics forum is finished.

When the transfer completes, we are going to handle the two pages of requests in the Ideas forum and make sure these will be implemented as soon as possible.

January 1, 2008.

Happy New Year to all of you!
I hope you've had a fun time off celebrating Christmas and New Years with friends and family.

During the past weeks and months we here at SketchUcation have been relentlessly working behind the scenes to provide you - the community - with the best possible education experience we could think of. This includes a brand new home for SketchUcation which you're looking at right now and also a new home for the SketchUp Community Forums.

sketchucation reloaded

So what can you expect from this new SketchUcation site?

We have entirely new tutorials which replace the Flash tutorials* you were accustomed to in the older sites. These new tutorials take less time to complete, load faster and maximize search engine results. The latter means more people will find them through search engines such as Google, helping in turn to grow an even larger community.
* The Flash tutorials can be found in different forums here.

SketchUcation's popularity has grown beyond our wildest expectations. One example of this is the amount of search results found for 'sketchucation' in Google's search engine, which has now crossed the 18000 mark.
At the time of this writing, when searching for 'tutorials' SketchUcation comes in at 4th place, just below Google's own resources.

the new sketchup community forums

The SCF is where you will find SketchUp professionals and enthusiasts alike. A community which spans the globe, discussing SketchUp and SketchUp related programs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. If you have a question that needs to be answered fast, this is the place where you will get answers within a matter of hours.

We have addressed issues with the SketchUp Community Forums (SCF). The new SCF has added security and features. Hence we are transferring posts from the old SCF forums to the new SCF forums.

Right after we let you know about these new forums you all signed up en masse. Weeks later here we are with once again flourishing SketchUp Community Forums in a new home. At this time of writing it already has over 1700 registered users, including many of the old SCF users. The count at the old board when we closed registrations there stopped at 3110 registered users. After the transfer has been completed, we will manually register the remainder at the new SCF, of those not yet registered from the old SCF.
With over 30 new members on average registering each day, we estimate that after merging the registered users from both boards we will have approximately 5000 registered users, making the SCF the second largest community in the world, yet growing faster than any other SketchUp community.

We believe that without our continued combined efforts of Administrator, Moderators and especially you the community, all of this would not have been possible. The success of this community is the result of new and bright ideas being constantly introduced, expanding the knowledge base of SketchUp as a whole.
