Creating a Designer Lamp in Google SketchUp
In this tutorial you will learn how to create a designer lamp.
01
INTRODUCTION

For this tutorial you will need the Pipe Along Path and the Bezier Curves plug-ins, which you can find in the Extensions Index: http://www.sketchucation.com/extensions-index/.
Left: Start with a simple square.
Bottom: The finished designer lamp.

02
Step 2/6
Draw a circle below the created Face (erase the inside surface).
Select the round Face, then select the Follow Me tool and click on the surface with the arc. This creates the sphere.
04
Step 3/6
Do the same to create the lines for the light bulb and the sting. Then use the Pipe Along Path plug-in as shown above in steps 4 and 5.
This is the final result you will have when you use Pipe Along Path. Group the entire mesh.
05
Step 4/6
Fist group the sphere, then create a box. Put it halfway over the sphere, then enter the group of the sphere and context-click and select Intersect with Model. Turn the sphere 90 degrees. Repeat the previous step and then delete the box we just made.
Erase the Faces of the sphere. Select each of the 2 circles independently and use Pipe Along Path to create the string. (7mm. thick). Then group the 2 stings. Make sure that the strings are smooth.
06
Step 5/6
Now copy the group just created and put it back on the same spot as the original group. Turn one of the two groups.
Then group those two and repeat this step a couple of times. To create the result shown on the picture.
